Justice is Not Seasonal Protest

On Friday the 24th of January a protest was held outside the Home Office building demanding justice for seasonal workers from Latin America. These workers are brought to the UK through the seasonal workers scheme on false promises and are then subjected to horrific exploitative and abusive conditions. Isolated, usually living on site, seasonal farm workers are subjected to harassment and abuse from their employers, face unlawful pay cuts, and are unable to leave or work elsewhere.

In July of 2023 eighty eight seasonal workers who had come to work on a berry farm in Herefordshire decided to take strike action, the first ever strike of UK seasonal workers. A group of these workers are now taking their employers to court with support from United Voices of the World, for alleged harassment and race discrimination, unlawful deductions of wages and whistle blowing victimization after raising health and safety concerns.
